Any student wishing to file for financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students may also need to complete the CSS profile, an additional financial aid document used primarily by private institutions. Since we are unable to have our typical financial aid evening this year, we would like to provide information to get you started on this process.
Video to guide you through the financial aid process
The Pine Bush Counseling Department has partnered with the Dutchess Community College Financial Aid Office to provide you with a video designed to guide you through the financial aid process. Given that we cannot answer questions in person, DCC has provided a link to a form where you are welcome to submit financial aid related questions. The DCC financial aid experts will do their best to respond in a timely fashion.
Please note: students need not apply to Dutchess Community College to take advantage of this video and questionnaire.
The presentation will be live until June, and the question form will be live until Dec. 31, 2020.

Common Application Information
The following information is provided by the Common Application and may be useful to you and your students:
- Your colleges will coordinate your federal, state, and college financial aid applications. All colleges participating in federal student aid programs need your FAFSA form. Be sure to complete this form to apply for federal aid. You can complete the FAFSA as early as Oct. 1, 2020 at no cost to you or your family.
- Your college may also offer financial aid. You may apply for college specific financial aid using the College Board’s CSS Profile application or other college forms.
- The CSS Profile application is available starting Oct. 1, 2020 and has a filing fee. Some colleges may let you choose to complete the CSS Profile or a free application of their own. Check out each college’s website for more guidance.
- Create your Federal Student Aid ID as soon as possible! Then use information from your family’s completed 2018 tax forms to finish the FAFSA. Find out what else you will need to complete the application.
For students who will be applying to schools (public or private) in New York State, the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website will also prove useful.
