Help is available for paying utility bills

As the weather begins to get colder, the need for assistance to pay energy bills grows. Local companies as well as the State of New York are offering grants and payment plans to help residents in need.

The State of New York offers Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) to help low-income residents pay the cost of heating their homes.

Orange and Rockland Utilities has information about payment plans and assistance from the state and federal programs for residential customers as well as business customers.

Central Hudson, which serves some areas in the Pine Bush Central School District, offers payment assistance. Here is information about specific programs: to help veterans and military familiespayment and special assistance programs and  information about HEAP
