I am very excited to announce that with a substantial increase in state funding, the Pine Bush Central School District will be able to offer a full-day pre-K program beginning next fall – for the 2021-2022 school year! That means we will no longer be offering the half-day program. The pre-K students will follow the existing elementary school schedule, and transportation to and from school will be provided along with the other elementary students.
If you already applied for the pre-K program, there is nothing further that you need to do. If you indicated earlier that you DO NOT want your child in a full day program, you will be getting another call from our office of Special Programs to verify that you want us to remove your child from the list of applicants.
If you have a child who will turn 4 on or before Dec. 1, 2021, and you have not yet applied for the pre-K program, please visit our district website and follow the link at the top of the homepage to complete the application.
If you know of a family residing within the district with a child who will turn four on or before Dec. 1, 2021, please share this information with them. Since this message is only going out to staff and families with existing ties to the district, it may not get to families who don’t yet have a child enrolled. So I am hoping you will help us spread the word.
It is our intent to serve as many children as possible, so we are increasing the number of pre-K classrooms in all four elementary schools. Despite this expansion, it is possible that the level of interest could exceed our classroom capacity. If we have more applicants than we have available seats, students will be accepted into the program based on a random selection process or lottery.
The deadline to submit your application to be considered in the random selection process for the 2021-2022 school year is the last day in May – which is Monday, May 31. Please be sure to submit your application by or before this deadline.
Have a great evening,
Tim O. Mains, Pine Bush Superintendent
