New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Presentation

John Redman, NYSSBA’s Area 9 Director will be in attendance to present a banner to the Pine Bush Central School District for NYSSBA’s Champions of Change Program.

John Redman was thanked for taking time to join us this evening to present the Champions of Change banner to the Pine Bush Central School District.

 

Reopening Plan

Superintendent Tim Mains and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Amy Brockner will present the district reopening plan. Assistant Superintendent Amy Brockner explained the chart for the Covid-19 Layered Mitigation Protocols for the 2021-2022 School year. The chart is based on the level of community transmission from low, moderate, substantial to high. Superintendent Mains added that the district will be giving every child a chrome book this year, which will allow for virtual tutoring if a child would need to quarantine. Additionally, if we ever had to close down and everyone had to go to an all remote learning situation every student would have a chrome book.

 

Public Participation

The public participation segment was opened at approx. 7:43PM. The following are the questions/comments/concerns that were raised. For complete conversation of this public participation refer to the online video at www.pinebushschools.org (Watch Board Meetings).

Old, New Business / Updates

Trustee Johnson gave an update on the meeting she attended as the Advocacy Liaison for the Board, with Congressman Delgado. Some talking points were Pandemic Relief, Individuals with Disabilities Act, Infrastructure plan and possible funding and the need for High Speed Internet.

Superintendent Mains made a statement for clarification the he did make the decision to require masks in school for the reopening, but only after meeting with the senior leadership team. Mr. Mains said that one of the responsibilities of his job is Duty of Care. He stated that he is responsible for the health and welfare of any human being who steps foot on the district property, most importantly our students and staff. He stated the decision to wear masks is based on the research that they work, and limit the transmission.
