Music theory and a visit from the Grinch

Music theory is a tough subject. To make it a little more fun and less scary, the department uses a familiar story – The Grinch – to learn about its musical rhythm and timing. Plus, it’s fun and nostalgic!

A class of 10 high school students stand together with a male teacher in back and another teacher in front dressed in a green one-piece grinch costume. She is holding a copy of the book "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas."

Tyler Odell’s class got a special bonus when Robin Evans made an appearance in full character as the Grinch and performed a dramatic reading for the class. She even had coal candy to hand out to everyone.
