Love to our school nutrition staff on School Lunch Hero Day

Nine people wearing short sleeve polo shirts and black aprons that say Pine Bush on them stand together smiling.

A super big hug and shout-out to our school nutrition workers on this National School Lunch Hero Day! Our Pine Bush school nutrition workers get started on preparing nutritious meals to our students early each morning. Using the freshest ingredients, they deliver healthy choices to our kids every day.

A woman whose hair is pulled back in a bun, wearing a red shirt and black pants, bends over an open oven to check on trays of chicken being cooked.

The high school crew, pictured here, gets started with their prep and cooking at 6:30 a.m. On this day, they made fresh barbecue chicken (which smelled scrumptious), cheeseburgers and spicy chicken sandwiches. That’s in addition to the fresh salads, vegetables, fruits, yogurts and sandwiches that are prepared daily.

A woman whose dark hair is pulled back into a bun, takes a tray of hamburgers out of te oven. She is wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt and is smiling at the camera.

A woman wearing a purple shirt and black hat and apron puts food in individual boxes to be served to kids.

Forty-five people make up the school nutrition staff, feeding kids in all our seven schools. As a surprise thank you to the workers, Lyn Prestia, director of school nutrition, and Liz McNamee bought embroidered lunch bags for each of the staff members.

We thank you today on School Lunch Hero Day and every day for the care you put into keeping our students fueled and ready to learn!
