PBHS gingerbread houses were incredible pieces of art

The holidays are over but we just have to showcase the incredibly beautiful work done by our high school students in Leeann Noonan’s Family and Consumer Science classes.

Two high school age girls roll out gingerbread dough.

These bakers and creators  made gingerbread from scratch, cut out their building elements with precision and decorated them so creatively.

Two high school age young women smile and hold a large gingerbread house they made. They both have long hair. The girl on the left is wearing a purple turtle neck shirt and the girl on the right is wearing a black sweater. The gingerbread house is decorated with cookies, multi-colored candies and chocolate chips.
Kendall Morris and Natalie Longobardo took second place in the gingerbread house competition at PBHS.

A table filled with several colorful gingerbread houses.

Along the way, they worked in groups and used their math skills to bake – there are so many exact measurements needed for baking! – and also to build their houses. Their creativity was certainly on display as you look at the end products!

A gingerbread house that is a ship! It has lots of pretzels on the sides to indicate wood and lots of candies and chocolates.

A gingerbread house - a slender one with a raised roof decorated with red licorice, and several little train cars on the side.
This was the first place creation.
