Crispell seventh-grade students Girl Scout cadettes Emily Fobert, Laura Frohnhoefer and Lily O’Donnell just completed their Girl Scout Silver Award with a project that benefited both their former elementary school and their middle school.
Just before the new school year started, the girls and their troop leader, Jessica Fobert, stopped by Crispell Middle School and Pine Bush Elementary School to make their donations.
Jessica Fobert’s Troop 798 formed in first grade at Pine Bush Elementary School. Now the girls are seventh-grade students at Crispell. Ms. Fobert said the girls wanted to give back to their schools while earning their Silver Award, which took two years to complete.
The girls had to identify an issue they wanted to tackle. They did their research and raised funds to complete it – all through cookie sales. The girls saw that Crispell was in need of indoor recess games for the library. They purchased a new set of games and playing cards for the Crispell students to enjoy, as well as school supplies.
Crispell Principal Stephen Wilder and Assistant Principal Chris Mummery were very happy to receive the gifts on behalf of the Crispell students.
Over at PBE, they presented 20 birthday celebration bags.
“A lot of families struggle, so the girls put together birthday packages,” said Ms. Fobert.
The festive bags were complete with cake mix, frosting, a birthday pin and banner as well as balloons.
PBE Principal Eric Winter was grateful for the generous donations, noting how families and children will benefit from their kindness.
