Each year, the Town of Wallkill recognizes local students for their contributions to their community and their school community during the February celebration of Black History Month. This year, three students from Pine Bush High School were recognized by the town board – India Latta, Akeela Moxam and London Fields.

 

Superintendent Brian Dunn was on hand, as well as Principal Aaron Hopmayer, PBHS teacher and Town of Wallkill board member Eric Johnson and board of education member Dori Johnson.

 

Mr. Hopmayer thanked the town board for recognizing some of the finest students in the high school. He introduced the young women being honored and spoke about each of them.

 

“India is an awesome young lady who is going into education,” said Mr. Hopmayer. “That’s an incredible way to lead.” Akeela, too is going into education. “She is going to lead from the front,” he said. “It makes me really proud” that these two young women will someday be educators.

 

London, he said, is a sophomore, “and already has become a leader. Her grades are in the high nineties. This young woman is an awesome role model.”

 

Congratulations to India, Akeela and London for representing Pine Bush in such an amazing way! We are Pine Bush proud!
