“The PBHS National Art Honor Society has grown from 14 members to 23 this year,” said Janice Barth, PBHS art teacher and advisor to the NAHS. ” It has been so wonderful to see our NAHS members collaborate and create with one another while sharing their artistic skills with their school community and beyond. The District Art Show was a huge success this year, thanks to the NAHS students who prepared, set up and facilitated all of the art activities for the evening. Their willingness to volunteer their time and share their talents is greatly appreciated.”

In addition, they paint the library windows, updating them for the seasons. They run fundraisers by sharing their creativity and talents. At Valentine’s Day, they created unique heart keychains and cards. At the December holidays, they made one-of-a-kind ornaments.

The National Art Honor Society has provided national recognition and opportunities for students who exhibit outstanding scholarship in the visual arts, and for their teachers. Participation in NAHS provides students, faculty, school, and the community with invaluable benefits, including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities and college and career preparation.

This is the second year PBHS has a chapter of the National Art Honor Society. The NAHS is open to high school students who have demonstrated an outstanding ability in visual arts. This program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character and service. One of the goals for NAHS is to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
