Life skills students host their very own Olympics

The Pine Bush High School Life Skills summer program concluded with an energetic and fun event centered on the recent Olympics.

Each summer, the students in the program complete work and participate in activities revolving around different themes, according to their teacher, Briana Caruso. For half of this summer, the theme was the summer Olympics.

Students completed track events (relay races, 50 meter, and 100 meter races) and a golf event. They competed in ring toss and bowling. Students also drew their Olympic portraits and wrote their Olympic biographies.

Students completed reading, writing, and answering questions to learn more about the games. They learned about the first ever Olympics and the famous Olympian, Wilma Rudolph.

On this day, the students held their closing ceremony and competed in the Drift trike race and an obstacle course. They weaved their trikes in and out of the cones on the obstacle course, challenging their balance and coordination. They did a great job!

The final event was the Drift trike race. Six of the students pedaled up to the starting line, waiting for the signal to start. They quickly raced around the track – their competitive streak came alive! After the race was over, the students received their medals and posed together as a team with their teacher and assistants – Ms. Caruso, Denise Crisafulli, Erica Ferrer and Naomi Bush.

Congratulations on a wonderful summer learning together and having some fun in the process.
