PBHS inducts 108 students into National Honor Society

Pine Bush High School inducted 108 new members into the National Honor Society, Wednesday, Oct. 30. The students were honored for their academic achievements as well as their character, leadership and service.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Amy Brockner spoke to the inductees, their families and PBHS staff members.

“Today we recognize not just your academic excellence, but also your commitment to leadership, service and character – values that are the foundation of the National Honor Society,” said Ms. Brockner. “As members of the National Honor Society, you are part of a legacy of excellence. You join a distinguished group of students who have come before you, each making a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.”

The criteria for students to be invited for membership in National Honor Society are:

  • achieve a cumulative average of at least 90%
  • complete 10 or more hours of community service
  • demonstrate excellence in leadership and character.

Ms. Brockner acknowledged the support these students have received from their families and their teachers, and urged them to let the principles of NHS guide them forward.

“Remember, being a member of the National Honor Society comes with responsibility,” she said. “It is not just an honor, but a call to action. You are expected to uphold the values of scholarship, leadership, service and character in all that you do. Let these principles guide you as you navigate your high school years and beyond.”

The students took the honor society pledge:

I pledge to uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society to which I have been selected;

I will be true to the principles for which it stands;

I will be loyal to my school;

And will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Congratulations to all!
