AIS Family Engagement Night is a success at EJR

EJR hosted its AIS Family Engagement Night on Nov. 14 with so many families participating!

A green basket of yellow folders sit on a table. There is a sign that says Reading Grades 4-5 and there is a sunflower on the table.

For reading, the Academic Intervention Services (AIS) team chose phonics for their kindergarten first and second-grade students, strategically adding resources that would help parents to foster and match the growth their child is making throughout the year. The goal is to develop confident, lifelong readers!
Students in grades three, four and five received a full-year subscription to Storyworks! Storyworks is beneficial because it provides engaging, age-appropriate texts.and offers a variety of activities to build critical reading skills through diverse genres. These texts and activities are fun and are an accessible way for parents to partner with their child in reading and literacy growth.

On the math side, the students received materials designed to promote family engagement, to help strengthen number sense, to develop mathematical strategies and to assist in mastering math concepts and facts. The packets for the first and second-grade students included activities and games that focus on addition and subtraction fact strategies. Those in grades three, four and five received resources intended to encourage students to practice their multiplication and division skills to prepare them for more challenging concepts in the future.

It was a terrific night for all! Big thanks to the AIS team Bonnie Bucci, Kimberlee Murphy, Lisa Pierron, Jennifer Schiesser and Danielle Wokanick, and especially the families who participated!
