Crispell community, Students Making a Difference help to make Thanksgiving special for families

Fourteen families in our community will have a happier Thanksgiving thanks to the students and staff at Crispell Middle School.

The Students Making a Difference Club (SMAD) held its food drive throughout most of the month of November. Homerooms collected food and then the SMAD club members collected it. Club advisors Melissa Prendys and Katie Green helped the students organize all of the donations and started creating the boxes.

Three middle school students and a woman stand near a stack of canned vegetables.

They put together boxes for 14 local families and these were boxes filled with more than Thanksgiving food! Each box contained vegetables, gravy, stuffing mix, pasta, mac and cheese, rice, desserts and much more, including turkeys courtesy of Butcher Boys of Monticello. There was even a cart filled with food that will go to the Pine Bush High School Food Pantry!

Two middle school students put food into a decorated box.

The club decorated each of the boxes to make the gift more festive.

A group of seven middle schoolers and two women stand behind several boxes of food. The boxes are covered in fall-themed paper.

Great job to all involved and a big thank you to the Crispell families who so generously donated to the food drive!
