CES students make their very own parade floats – and bring in some robotics too!

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Circleville Elementary School had a fun morning designing, creating, and showcasing balloons through their very own Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Many elementary school students kneel at a table to decorate balloons.

The kindergarten, ABLE, multi-age, and fourth-grade classes created the fun projects while the rest of the school had a chance to watch everyone show off their work! Parent volunteers were on hand to help out too. The kids were inspired by the story “Balloons Over Broadway: The True Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade” by Melissa Sweet.

The younger students used their artistic abilities to design helium balloons to simulate actual floats from the Thanksgiving Day parade.

An older elementary age kid uses Spheros, a robotics device, to roll his balloon down the hall.

The fourth graders, with the guidance of Katie Galt, integrated a fun twist – robotics – using Spheros to guide their balloons down the hallways! This was a true group effort in creating a fun activity for all to enjoy!

A large group of elementary school kids gather in a hallway with a path open in the center for a parade.
