District voters approved the two-part capital improvement project proposition Tuesday, March 4, which will address much aging infrastructure, upgrade safety and network equipment, provide air conditioning in cafeterias and gyms, provide a new athletic complex in Circleville and much more.
“We are so grateful for the support from our community,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Amy Brockner. “Our Central Design Committee worked tirelessly to develop this capital improvement project, prioritizing projects for safety and efficiency. We thank you all for supporting our students.”
Proposition 1, totaling $52,260,000, has no additional financial impact on our taxpayers. It will be covered by a nearly 80 percent state aid reimbursement, retired district debt, the district’s capital reserve fund and cafeteria funds.
Proposition 2, totaling $27,035,000, will be funded by approximately $19,800,000 in state aid, with the remainder picked up by our taxpayers. A homeowner with the Basic STAR deduction whose house value is $400,000 will pay about $70 more per year, or $5.83 per month.
Assistant Superintendent for Business Joe Lenz emphasized that the administration remains committed to balancing necessary capital improvements with the financial well-being of residents.
“Fiscal responsibility is a top priority for us when determining the scope and execution of capital projects,” he said. “I’m pleased we can move forward with these necessary projects and keep our buildings safe and efficient.”
