Position: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

Qualifications: Appropriate NYS administrative certificate (SDA/SDL) and a minimum of three years of district experience, studies in curriculum and professional development preferred.
Under the leadership of Superintendent, the position is responsible for supervision of all academic service areas, which include curriculum and instruction services, student support services, technical and career
education, instructional technology, homeschooling, virtual learning, and adult learning, including professional development. Member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. This position includes the duties and responsibilities below and other functions as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and supervises curriculum design, instructional improvement and delivery, instructional programs, school monitoring and over-all instructional program assessment.
- Coordinates on matters of instruction across departments and offices as needed.
- Assists the Superintendent in matters of instruction including long-range planning.
- Effectively works and communicates with parents, community groups, administrators and others on instructional program matters.
- Directs all planning for instructional programs; plans and oversees all instructional programs and staff development activities; evaluates all instructional programs; observes and monitors programs and program staff.
- Assists with the development, preparation, and monitoring of instructional budgets; reviews and approves grant proposals.
- Gathers data and prepares reports for the Superintendent and School Board as required.
- Coordinates special projects on a continuing basis as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Attends numerous committee meetings in the development of instructional, curriculum and related policies, and procedures.
- Attends and/or facilitates Grade Level Chair Meetings, Faculty Meetings, Department Chair Meetings, School Board Meetings and related meetings. Supervises instructional coaches PreK – 12.
- Reviews co-curricular and extra-curricular additions.
- Chairs and/or serves on a variety of task forces for district initiatives.
- Serves as the Title IX and Title VI Compliance Officer and District DASA Coordinator.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the current 3012d regulations and supervises all APPR procedures and policies.
- Performs related work as required per the Superintendent.
