Pine Bush School District Responds to Stolen Checks Incident

The Pine Bush Central School District would like to inform our community about an incident recently uncovered during our routine internal financial control procedures. Four checks, written to pay legitimate bills incurred by the district, were found to have been intercepted and fraudulently cashed.

Upon discovering the concern, the district immediately contacted the Town of Crawford Police Department, and a thorough investigation was launched. The diligent work of both the Town of Crawford Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspector led to the discovery that the checks had been intercepted after leaving the Pine Bush CSD Business Office via the United States Postal Service. Their joint efforts recently culminated in the arrest of four individuals in connection with the stolen checks and their fraudulent cashing.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to both the Town of Crawford Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspector for their dedication and expertise in resolving this matter swiftly and effectively.

The Pine Bush School District remains committed to ensuring the security of its financial operations. Our internal procedures operated as intended, and we will continue to adhere to them.
