This is Mrs. Slover, Principal of Circleville Elementary School, with an important announcement about Mobile Monday and the return of students.

Mobile Mondays – First, all families need to know that Mobile Monday will change slightly. Teachers will continue to hold their whole class Google Meet. The change is that teachers will be assigning one asynchronous literacy and one asynchronous math activity for students to complete that day.

Return to In-Person Instruction – Next, we will be welcoming Day A students back to the building for in-person instruction on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Day B students on Wednesday, Oct.. 7.  Here are some things families need to know:

School District Chromebooks 

• If your child has a district device, students need to bring it back and forth to school.  Make sure it is charged.  Chromebook cases will be handed out while your child is at school with the device.
• Do not send your child with a personal device.  
• CES will have Chromebooks available for students who: 

1. do not have a district device to bring back and forth to school. Loaner Program and insurance paperwork will be sent home as soon as possible.  Once the paperwork is completed and returned to school, your child will be able to take their Chromebook home and be expected to bring it back and forth.  This Chromebook will get a cover as well.
2. has a personal device at home.  A Chromebook will be assigned to your child at school.  That device will stay at school.
3. forget to bring their device to school or come to school with an uncharged device.  Chromebooks will be available for students to borrow on a daily basis.

 

Arrival

Health Questionnaire – As Mr. Mains stated Thursday evening in his announcement, parents will be receiving “a reminder each morning via a text and/or email with a link to a health questionnaire and will get a separate text/email for each child who is scheduled to attend that day. It’s important that this be completed and submitted each day your kids attend school. The messages should be arriving in your email inbox or on your cell phone as a text message, provided you have given us those for our SchoolTool student information system.”

Drop-off – We will be using the Kiss and Go area for drop-off again this year.  At 8:55, a team of staff members will arrive at the Kiss and Go area located at the tree line opposite the parking lot entrance.  Teachers will be taking temperatures and recording the name of the adult who will be picking up your child(ren) at dismissal.  Students are required to wear a mask to enter the building.  Please do not release your child/children from the car before our team speaks with the driver.  Students arriving early will not be allowed in the building.  If your child has a fever, he/she will need to go home.

Bus –  Students are required to wear a mask on the school bus and in the building.  Students will begin being released from buses at 8:55.  A team of staff members will be taking the temperatures of students before allowing them to exit the bus.  Once the student is cleared, he/she can enter the building.  If the student has a fever, he/she will be brought to the isolation room in the building and a parent will be called to come pick up their child.

Dismissal

Pick-ups – If you are picking-up your child at dismissal, park in the parking lot, not in the bus lot or near the Kiss and Go area.  Individuals picking up children are asked to wear a face mask or covering and will need to walk to the cafeteria door on the right and form a line.  At 2:45, a staff member will open the door and begin checking IDs and recording needed information.  Once that process is completed, individuals will walk down the sidewalk toward the next cafeteria door.  We will begin releasing small groups of students at 3:00.   Dismissal will take place on the sidewalk.  No one will be entering the building.

Bus – We will begin bus dismissal around 3:10.  Again, children will need to wear their face masks for the bus ride home.  Buses typically leave the parking lot by 3:20.  However, dismissal during the first few days of school tends to runs longer than usual. 

CES staff members made phone calls last week to share bus information with families.  If you are in need of bus information, call the CES main office at 744-2031 ext. 5500, or the Transportation Office at 744-2031 ext. 4057, or Birnie Bus at 765-7200.  

Finally, everyone at CES is excited to begin this next phase of the 2020-21 school year!  We all have been working diligently to create new procedures and routines to ensure our students and staff stay safe and healthy.  We anticipate that there will be a few bumps in these new plans and ask for families to be patient while we work through them.
