Talk about heroes.
Wednesday, May 12, is National School Nurses Day. What can we say about our nurses. They have always been valuable to our district, providing professional medical care to our students and staff every single day of the school year.
Our nurses provide wellness screenings and set up district blood drives. They coordinate dental health screenings and make sure student medications are up-to-date and administered on time. Our nurses are counselors – they listen to our children and give good counsel as much as they treat them for illness.
Our district nurses are the go-to people when a family is in need or experiences a tragedy. At the holidays, our nurses make sure that families are taken care of when it comes to food and gifts.
And then there was this past year. Our nurses have been on the front lines, screening and tracing and teaching and caring beyond measure.
Our nurses play an essential role in our children’s health and safety. Whether it is taking care of a little one’s tummy ache, administering medications, coordinating a food drive, coming through when tragedy strikes or listening as a student spills her heart out about an issue she can talk to no one else about, our nurses go above and beyond for our district. They are heroes in the truest sense of the word. And we are grateful beyond words.
