Aaron Schoenberg receives Elaine Greco Creative Spirit Award

Pine Bush High School senior Aaron Schoenberg is the 2024 recipient of the Elaine Greco Creative Spirit Award, which is presented to an Odyssey of the Mind participant each year.

A high school senior boy with short hair and glasses. He is wearing a black hoodie and holding a sign that says I'm RIT Bound. He is smiling.

Aaron is a very deserving recipient, according to Lori Stapleton, coordinator of Odyssey of the Mind in the district. “This extraordinary young man has been associated with the Odyssey of the Mind program here in Pine Bush for the past eight years,” said Ms. Stapleton. “He has been an exemplary team member who went above and beyond to drive his team to victory at the regional and New York State tournaments! Elaine would have been overjoyed by his technical and creative accomplishments!”

This award comes with a $500 scholarship, in memory of longtime Pine Bush art teacher and Odyssey of the Mind coach Elaine Greco. It is designed to honor the spirit in which Pine Bush teams are encouraged to compete.  Ms. Greco’s vision of the program was one where academically and creatively talented students could learn the life skills afforded to athletic teams.  As our greatest cheerleader, she always loved winning, but only if the path to excellence was paved with honesty, hard work and a spirit of competition.
