Pakanasink students enjoyed a week of “Start With Hello” activities, aimed at encouraging kindness and inclusion for each other.
Students signed the banner “How Do You Say Hello?” with the many different ways they actually say hello to each other, like “hola,” “hey there” and “what’s up?”
On Thursday, students made a paper chain of kindness whose links listed random acts of kindness performed during that day.
Friday was “No One Eats Alone” day where students sat at the table of their choice and no one sat alone. The PAK community made sure of that.
Throughout the week members of PAK’s Start With Hello Club acted as student greeters so everyone received a cheery hello.
Start With Hello is a program created by Sandy Hook Promise. From Sept. 23 through 27 students throughout the district and the country learned how a simple hello can make the difference in someone’s day. The program promotes kindness, inclusion and the value of looking out for one another.
