Have you heard of “The Getty Challenge?” It’s taking Instagram and Twitter by storm. Initiated by the J. Paul Getty Museum, the challenge asks people to select a work of art from the Getty Museum and create it using items found at home.
Patrice Butler, visual arts teacher at PBE, got her fourth and fifth grades students to take part in their own Getty-type Challenge. She asked her fourth grade students to choose an image from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and her fifth graders to choose an image from the Getty and recreate it. She wanted them to have fun with it – and it certainly seems like they did!
Ms. Butler put together a slideshow so we could all enjoy!
