ADDITION TO THE CONSENT AGENDA

Recommend the Board of Education approve the following addition to the Consent Agenda as submitted by the Superintendent of Schools:

Resignations

Instructional

  • Correction: Recommend the Board of Education accept the resignation of Alisa Balestrino, from her position as 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher, (not as 1.0 FTE Elementary Teacher) effective August 17, 2021.
  • Recommend the Board of Education accept the resignation of Angela Kruger, from her position as a 6.5 hr/day Teaching Assistant, effective August 20, 2021.

 

Non Instructional

  • Recommend the Board of Education accept the resignation of Lisa (Lesa) Schoonmaker from her position as a 3.5 hr/day School Monitor position effective August 11, 2021.
  • Recommend the Board of Education accept the resignation of Andrealynn Colombo from her position as a 6.5 hr/day School Monitor position effective August 24, 2021.

 

Leave of Absence

Instructional

  • Recommend the Board of Education accept a request for an unpaid leave of absence of Theresa Valastro from her position as a 6.0 hr/day Teaching Assistant effective August 30, 2021 through June 30, 2022.

 

Non Instructional

  • Recommend the Board of Education accept a request for an unpaid leave of absence of Cindy Rivera from her position as a 6.0 hr/day School Monitor effective August 30, 2021 through June 25, 2022.

 

Rescind Appointment

Instructional

  • Recommend the Board of Education rescind the appointment of Amanda Lenane, who holds an Initial certificate in Students with Disabilities 1-6, be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher-Special Education in the tenure area of Special Education (General) for a four year probationary period commencing August 30, 2021 and ending August 29, 2025. Salary level MA, Step 4 of the salary schedule.
    Be it further resolved that, to the extent applicable under Education Law Section 3012-d and the accompanying Commissioner’s Regulations, in order to be considered for tenure, Amanda Lenane must have received an APPR
    rating of effective or highly effective in three of the four probationary years and must not receive an ineffective in the fourth year.

Appointments

Instructional

  • Recommend that Megan Kellett, who holds a Teaching Assistant Level I certificate, be appointed on probation as a part-time, non-tenure bearing, 6.5 hr/day Teaching Assistant effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.
    Increase in hours: Recommend the Board of Education approve the increase in hours of Arlene Cooper, (from 6.0 hr/day) to 6.5 hr/day Teaching Assistant position, effective August 30, 2021.
  • Recommend that Jacqueline Coffey, who holds an Initial certificate in Students with Disabilities 1-6 be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher – Special Education in the tenure area of Special Education (General) for a four year probationary period commencing August 30, 2021 and ending August 29, 2025. Salary level MA Step 2.

  • Recommend that Christina Greenbaum, who holds Professional certificates in Literacy Grades 1-6 and Childhood Education 1 – 6 be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher – Elementary in the tenure area Elementary for a four year probationary period commencing August 30, 2021 and ending August 29, 2025. Salary level MA30 Step 6. Christina will be assigned as a Literacy Coach.
    Be it further resolved that, to the extent applicable under Education Law Section 3012-d and the accompanying Commissioner’s Regulations, in order to be considered for tenure, Christina Greenbaum must have received an
    APPR rating of effective or highly effective in three of the four probationary years and must not receive an ineffective in the fourth year.
  • Recommend that Corrine M. Vertescher, who holds Initial Extended certificates in Childhood Education 1-6 and Early Childhood Education B-2 be appointed to the probationary position of a 1.0 FTE Teacher – Elementary
    in the tenure area Elementary for a four year probationary period commencing August 30, 2021 and ending August 29, 2025. Salary level BA Step 2.
    Be it further resolved that, to the extent applicable under Education Law Section 3012-d and the accompanying Commissioner’s Regulations, in order to be considered for tenure, Corinne Vertescher must have received an APPR rating of effective or highly effective in three of the four probationary years and must not receive an ineffective in the fourth year.
  • Recommend that Selena Petrilli, who holds a Emergency Covid Childhood Education 1-6 certificate, be appointed on probation as a part-time, non-tenure bearing, 6.0 hrs/day Teaching Assistant effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.

Non-Instructional

  • Recommend the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Jillian Marchese to a 6.5 hr/day position of Teacher-Aide, effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.
  • Recommend the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Veronica Birmingham to a 3.5 hr/day position of School Monitor, effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.
  • Recommend the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Meghan Rommel to a 3.5 hr/day position of School Monitor, effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.
  • Recommend the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Tiaisha Villafane to a 6.5 hr/day position of Teacher-Aide, effective August 30, 2021, salary as per contract.

 

Co-curricular

Sixth-Period Assignment

Crispell Middle School

Board approval of the following instructional staff members teaching a sixth period/additional assignment for the 2021-2022 school year at an annual contractual stipend of $5,500:

Per Diem Substitutes

Recommend the approve the appointment of the following individuals as per diem substitutes or tutors effective August 25, 2021 (or as noted) at board approved per diem substitute rates (or as noted):

**Such appointment is conditioned upon the District’s receipt of clearance for employment from the N.Y. business days.
