The vacancy on the Pine Bush Board of Education will not be filled until the annual board election and budget vote in May, 2022.
Board member and acting president Cara Robertson at the Sept. 28 board meeting said, that based on past precedence, the seat will remain vacant until the next election.
“As our community is aware, a vacancy exists on the Pine Bush Board of Education,” said Ms. Robertson. “State law permits the board of education to fill this vacancy by appointment or to leave it vacant until the next annual election. Based on past practice, and consistent with the authority granted under New York State law, the board of education has decided to keep this seat vacant until the annual election in May 2022.”
In May 2021, board candidate Tasha T. Butler won a seat on the board. She was sworn in remotely to take her place on the seven-member board in July but resigned from the board for personal reasons effective Aug. 24.
The annual board of education election and budget vote will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
