Bonjour! Hola! CVMS finds many ways to say hello

CVMS celebrated Start With Hello Week during the week of Sept. 20. All academic advisory classes participated in a contest to see how many ways they could come up with to say “hello” in other languages. One winner from each grade level was recognized at the end of the week.

Mrs. Camia’s 7th grade class took the top spot by identifying 156 different ways to say hello! Students in each winning advisory class received a special treat during their lunch period on Friday.

A class of 14 middle school students stands together in front of a blackboard with posters hanging from the top. All have masks on. Twelveof them are standing along the wall and two are kneeling in front.
Mrs. Camia’s seventh grade class came up with the most ways to say hello – 156!

For our No Place For Hate Kickoff, every advisory class created a Respect Agreement. Each agreement had four sections including “student to student,” “student to teacher,” “teacher to student” and “everyone to classroom.” Students in each class came up with their own agreed upon rules and expectations to be followed throughout the year. This information was added to a large poster that will be displayed in each classroom for all to see.

Fifteen middle school sixth grade students stand in three rows, in front of a light blue wall. All have masks on.
Ms. McDonald’s sixth graders were able to name more ways to say hello than any other sixth grade class!
Fifteen eighth grade students stand in a classroom. They are in two rows, with three kids sitting on the floor and the rest standing behind them. All are wearing masks.
Ms. Samarel’s eighth-grade students were creative and came up with more ways to say hello than any other eighth-grade class!
