Sixth grade students at Circleville Middle School took the tower lab challenge last week – with much success.
Their goal was to construct a free-standing tower using the fewest number of index cards in order to hold a stuffed animal for 20 seconds. They used this lab to explore the Scientific Method.
The student groups used a variety of different methods for construction of their towers – curved bases, wide bases, rectangular structures, to name a few. Multiple were successful! In addition to engineering their towers, the students worked collaboratively through this process. And they had some fun too!
