Pine Bush Elementary School fifth-grade students, their families and teachers gathered to mark their moving up to middle school!
Principal Eric Winter welcomed all to celebrate this wonderful group of students, all they’ve accomplished throughout their elementary years, and to look forward to the opportunities that await them.
Joseph Lenz, assistant superintendent for business, encouraged students to carry forward the values of respect, kindness and perseverance they learned at PBE. He quoted the always-wise Fred Rogers on the three ways to ultimate success. “There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” Always the best advice.
There were several special awards presented to students.
The Triple C Award, recognizing the courage, character, and commitment of New York State’s outstanding students, was presented to Madeline Rosas, Zaeem Imran, Lucas Faso, Aurelia Ponsolle and Hayden Gutierrez.
The New York State Comptroller’s Award is given to students who have shown academic excellence and the potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve their school and community. The PBE fifth-graders receiving this award were Shea Lopuzone, Amelia Higgins-Close, Neylan Rodriguez, Timothy Cassidy and Gavin Dillon.
The Principal’s Awards were presented to Lucas Faso and Sophia Shepard.
Assistant Principal Jennifer Fitzgerald presented her awards to Jackson Woodruff and Andie VanDemark.
It was a wonderful celebration of the students, with their families and teachers. Afterwards, the PTA provided refreshments and there were smiles and hugs all around!
Congratulations to the Pine Bush Elementary School fifth-grade class, moving on to middle school! Take your opportunities! We are proud of you.
