There was an escape room challenge for students in Kimberly Canaperi and Deirdre Babcock’s forensic science class at Pine Bush High School – and these students met the challenge!
The project started with students having to gather evidence that was placed in different locations throughout the school. These evidence locations were taped off like a crime scene and students bagged the evidence, writing all the information they thought was pertinent. They went to the library lab to look at all of the collected evidence to figure out where the crime happened before returning to their classroom where the real work would begin.
The challenge for each team of students was to crack the code within 30 minutes using a cipher. Each team went from station to station, unlocking the next clue. In the end, they needed the combination to unlock the last box and win the challenge!
The teammates collaborated together and used their critical thinking skills to come up with the correct answers, ultimately unlocking the final box with sweet treats for all!
It was thought-provoking, required some true skill to conquer and was also fun!
