CVMS book tasting gives students a sample of new authors, subjects

CVMS ELA teacher Nicole Bobby and library media specialist Robin Renahan recently hosted a book tasting for students.

What, you might ask, is a book tasting? Well, just like with food, some students have a more finicky palate for reading materials. They like what they like and are apprehensive to try new authors or subjects. The book tasting was their opportunity to do just that.

A table in a library with a red and white check table cloth. On it is a cutout of a large snowflake and around that are six books in a circle.

This book tasting focused on graphic novels. Most kids like graphic novels so that was the easy part. Some only like certain authors and characters. The tasting encouraged them to explore new areas of interest.

More than a dozen middle school students sitting in a library reading books. They are all masked and are sitting at tables of three, all spaced apart.

It was truly a success as many students discovered new authors and walked away excited to read new books!
