Building bridges! Second-graders in Suzanne Parker’s class at Pakanasink had a great learning opportunity recently. It was a fall STEM activity with math/science coach Maria Gabrell. The challenge: work within a group to design and build a bridge that holds as many “spiders” as possible.
Each group chose its own supplies and used Unifix cubes as the spiders. The students were creative and thought as engineers do, building unique bridges.
One group’s bridge was able to hold 16 spiders! All were so proud of their projects.
