The Pine Bush Central School District is committed to providing a safe educational environment for all of its students. We have long known that if students don’t feel safe, their learning will be impaired.
The District has not and will not condone acts of sexual harassment, assault or other sexual misconduct. We take such allegations extremely seriously and we believe that such actions have no place in society at large, and certainly not in our public schools.
All allegations of sexual harassment, aggression or abuse that come to the District’s attention are investigated consistent with our District Code of Conduct, as well as federal and state laws regarding sexual misconduct. While we have been working most recently with a number of students who have reported being victims of sexual misconduct, we are never able to discuss or describe our responses because matters of student discipline are all confidential. Additionally, the district is reviewing its Code of Conduct and proposing an increase to the mandatory disciplinary consequence for forcible sexual offences.
We want any student or staff member who believes that they have been the victim of sexual harassment or other aggression to let us know so that we can help. We also want to remind anyone who has knowledge of a student or staff member being the victim of sexual misconduct to let us know, since victims are sometimes reluctant to come forward themselves.
