Good afternoon.
Today, September 22, 2022, the high school administrative team became aware of a YouTube post that contained a video threat made over the summer by one of our own students. The student was immediately removed from class to begin an investigation. Local law enforcement officials were promptly notified and have been directly involved in the investigation.
The student will be held accountable per the district’s Code of Conduct. Law enforcement will continue to be involved throughout the investigation. In the meantime, we are very confident that our schools are safe and secure.
We stress to everyone that all threats will be taken seriously out of concern for student and staff safety. We ask all parents and guardians to talk with their children about the significance of making threats. Any type of threat–even if intended as a joke–will be taken seriously and addressed by the district and law enforcement.
“Our staff is committed to providing our students with a safe and secure environment in which to learn,” said Superintendent Brian Dunn. “It is a top priority for all of us. An important part of that commitment is transparent communication from the district. Please know that any person threatening our school environment will be met with immediate action by the district. It will not be tolerated.”
