EJR, PBHS Odyssey of the Mind teams advance to states; all PB teams place in regional competition

Says New York State Odyssey of the Mind Association Elementary School finished first in their respective regional divisions and are now moving on to the state competitions.

All levels of this year’s Odyssey competition are virtual. Teams recorded their work and sent it off to the OOTM headquarters in New Jersey, along with the physical structures they created. The results of the regional competition were announced via video Friday evening, March 26, on the Orange-Ulster BOCES website.

The EJR team is coached by Naomi Bush and worked on Problem 4 Structure. The first-place PBHS took on Problem 5 Theatrical and was coached by Daniel Aktas and Bobbi Walter.

All four other Pine Bush teams finished second for their problem in their respective divisions:

  • Circleville Middle School, coached by Samantha Petrosi and Garrett Randall – Problem 5 Theatrical
  • Crispell Middle School, coached by Stacey Mark – Problem 4 Structure
  • Crispell Middle School, coached by Matt Schomber – Problem 2 Technical
  • PBHS, coached by Bobbi Walter and Dan Aktas – Problem 2 Technical

 

All six of the Pine Bush teams that participated in the regional competition placed! Great job to all for their hard work and dedication.

EJR and the first-place PBHS team will move on to the New York State tournament, whose results will be announced on April 3 at 3 p.m. on the NYS Odyssey website, www.nysoma.org.
