EJR students share their culture with classmates

Let’s learn about each other! Students at EJR shared their heritage with their classmates, a way for all to get to know each other a little better.

A woman with dark hair and mask, and a print shirt holds up a poster that has several flats on it as well as pictures of food. A little girl is looking at the poster and telling her about what's on it. The girl has long brown hair and is wearing a mask and white shirt.

Students answered a few questions about their ancestry – where their families are originally from, what special foods they eat and even clothing that is native to their ancestors – then presented to their classmates.

An elementary-age boy with short dark hair wearing a red mask and gray shirt holds up a piece of paper with a flag of Puerto Rico on it.

An elementary-age boy with blonde hair holds up a piece of paper with information about his heritage. He is wearing a dark shirt and a mask.

It was like a mini United Nations with students whose families are originally from Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Panama, Germany, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Canada, Ireland and many more. Food favorites crossed boarders as everyone seemed to like waffles, burritos and pizza, to name a few!

A small elementary school girl with long dark hair, wearing a light-colored print mask. She is holding a piece of paper showing she is from Mexico.

It was a great way for students to get to know more about their friends and the customs of each other’s families.

A woman with dark hair, a print shirt sits on a chair looking at a little boy who is explaining to her where his family is from. He is wearing a yellow shirt and dark mask, holding a piece of paper with the flag of Canada.
