What a surprise for EJR fifth-grader Scarlett Voight! Scarlett was chosen as the winner of the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council of Orange County (ADAC) essay contest and received her awards right in her classroom.
Alayna Eisloeffel and Briana Todor from Tri-County Prevention Coalition, Lauren Savino from Orange County Stop DWI, Maryalice Monarch from Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council of Orange County and Jake Castro, the district’s prevention specialist from ADAC came bearing balloons and certificates for Scarlett. Scarlett also won a gift certificate.
Principal Elizabeth Halsey-Sproul, Assistant Principal Anthony Muia, and Scarlett’s teacher Laura Lisberg, were thrilled for her. Scarlett’s essay was one of more than 200 entered into the contest county-wide.
Scarlett’s mom, Desiree, was also in attendance to surprise her daughter. Desiree said her daughter’s essay centered on strategies to be drug free for life. Staying busy is key. Join sports teams and clubs, make good friends. Sage advice from this wise young woman.
Congratulations to Scarlett!
