End-of-unit celebration of science and writing has awesome surprises for special guests

What a wonderful way to end a unit!

A group of three fourth-grade girls stand in front of the class as other students squat in front of them and adults watch from behind the students.

Stacey Venzel’s fourth-grade class at Pine Bush Elementary had more than 30 visitors to their classroom as families were invited for their end-of-unit celebrations in science and writing.

Students are at desks with their projects and many adults are walking around looking at the various projects.

These fourth-grade students wrote songs about erosion (that’s a hot topic!), then performed the songs in their groups – some with choreographed dance moves, art, and “musicians.”

The students then surprised visitors with a performance of the “50 Nifty United States” song.

Finally, students presented their small moment personal narrative pieces, with many students opting to create a display to go along with their story.
