Hello,

Today’s message contains two items about athletics and one for everybody. 

First – Fall Sports Teams:  Though we don’t yet know what we will and will not be allowed to do next fall, we want to be ready if we are able to launch into a regular fall season. So, starting tomorrow, June 16, the first step in our fall sports registration process will be open on the district website under the athletics tab. It will remain open for about two weeks – until Tuesday, June 30.  This initial process, known as the “intend to play” registration, is regularly used to gather student interest in fall sports participation in grades 7-12. The second and final registration will occur later this summer in the same online format. The reason for the two-step process is that the NY State Education Department requires all districts to review a student’s health profile within 30 days of the start of the athletic season. Those final registration dates are also posted with the information on our athletic website so that you can plan ahead.

Please note that this information is being communicated based on the anticipated opportunity to return to school and athletics at the start of the 2020-21 school year.  Any information regarding changes to these dates will be communicated to families who register through this initial registration process. So, please be sure to visit our athletic site and register your child if he or she is interested in trying out for a varsity, JV or modified sports team in the fall season.

Second – We have posted a salute to all of our seniors who have signed to participate in sports in college. If you look under the “News and Announcements” section on our homepage, you’ll find a link to the story and a two minute video tribute to these athletes.
