Firefighters share their expertise with PAK students

Pakanasink Elementary students had a visit from the Circleville and  Silver Lake Fire Districts during National Fire Prevention Week, which was celebrated Oct. 7-11.

A fire fighter dressed in his fire equipment talks to a group of fourth-grade students.

Students in each grade had a demonstration by the fire fighters, showing them the equipment on each fire truck and what it is used for, as well as getting instruction on important things like sleeping with their bedroom door closed, the importance of having a meeting spot should a fire break out in their house, and what to do should a fire emergency happen.

A bright blue sky in the background. A class looks up at a very tall ladder extended on a fire truck.

For some of the younger students, this was their first time learning the information. For many of the older students, they confidently answered the fire fighters’ questions. These students definitely retain what they learn! These wonderful volunteers are making a tremendous difference in their lives!
