It was a really big day for Jahesa Stokes and her family Tuesday, April 23. The Pine Bush High School senior and stand-out point guard signed her letter of intent to play college basketball for Dominican University on a nearly full scholarship.
A large group of family and friends gathered in the PBHS library to watch Jahesa sign her letter, including her proud parents and siblings, as well as her beaming coaches, Michelle Bouffard and Lisa Bouffard, and the district’s athletic director, Jen Evans.
“Today marks not just the culmination of years of hard work but also the beginning of an exciting new adventure,” said Ms. Evans. “Jahesa, you have not only represented Pine Bush with distinction but have also inspired your teammates, coaches and all those who have had the privilege of witnessing your talent on the court.”
Jahesa’s coach, Michelle Bouffard, said Jahesa is the type of person a coach wants on their team.
“Jahesa was the type of kid who never got flustered on the court,” said PBHS girls varsity coach Michelle Bouffard. “She is confident and hardworking. She has a really good work ethic and a great personality. She is a good kid and she leads by example.”
Jahesa was one of the captains of the team this year, a team that was so united, Coach Bouffard said “They have a bond like no other.”
Jahesa was a four-year starter for Pine Bush and ended her PBHS career with 887 points.
“As you don the jersey of your new team, carry with you the pride of our entire community and know we are all here cheering you on and supporting you,” said Ms. Evans. “We eagerly anticipate watching you soar to even greater heights in the years to come. No matter where you go and what you do, you are always a part of the Pine Bush Athletics family.”
Congratulations Jahesa! We are Pine Bush proud!
