On September 26, 2019, The Town of Crawford Police Department received a complaint from the Pine Bush Central School District regarding a suspicious photograph that was posted on Google Maps. The photo was visible on web searches related to the Crispell Middle School webpage.

The picture was quickly recognized as a stock photo that has appeared on several websites. Together with the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center, the Crawford Police Department was able to locate the person who posted the image. The subject, a 14 year-old male who is not a Pine Bush student, was interviewed in the presence of his parent. No charges will be filed because Google Maps is an open website and the picture, while unsettling, did not rise to the level of criminality.
