EJR kindergarten students got to experience holidays from around the world without even leaving their building! The students made their own passports and had them stamped as they explored from one classroom to the next.
Ellie Cassidy welcomed each class into her classroom where they learned about the holiday traditions of Mexico. A special guest read a story about Mexican traditions and then the student colored their very own piñatas.
Alyssa Mock shared information about the German traditions, which include making gingerbread cookies and children leaving their shoes out and having them filled with candy! The students created paper gingerbread men and women.
Moving to Michelle Manucci shared the Indian holiday of Diwali, which symbolizes light over darkness, good over evil. Diwali is one of the biggest celebrations in India and includes sweet foods and decorations. People decorate by making designs on the floor with sand or powder and they even make flower necklaces for their cows! The students played bingo using the symbols of this holiday.
Finally, Sarah Faoro’s classroom, students got a taste of the holiday season in Sweden. They learned about St. Lucy and her crown of candles. She is a symbol of light. The students made crowns of candles and star wands.
