Life skills class explores Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum

Alexis Darro’s life skills class from Crispell Middle School had a wonderful visit to the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum in Poughkeepsie recently.

A group of four students and an adult sit on a solar system rug and listen to another adult teach.

A middle school age boy, wearing a gray hoodie and a blue baseball cap smiles as he crawls through a large tube.

The students learned about space exploration as a follow-up to their solar system unit in science class. They participated in an activity in which they worked together to create and test small satellites using various pieces and parts of objects. In addition, students had some time to explore the museum and interact with educational exhibits.

A middle school girl with long brown hair and glasses, wearing a red hoodie holds up a satellite she made.

Two middle school boys smile for the camera. The boy on the left holds up a satellite he made while the boy on the right smiles.

It was truly a fun and educational day for all!
