Our own Thanksgiving Bowl

Students in Susan Corcoran’s fifth grade class at Circleville Elementary School had a hands-on project for Thanksgiving. They all read “The Thanksgiving Bowl” book and then made their own bowls.

The story is about Grandma Grace’s Thanksgiving bowl that makes its way to many, bringing goodwill and inspiring gratitude for all. That is its original purpose: holding the annual “I Am Thankful For” lists for the family.

Of course the students then made their own Thanksgiving bowls from Play-Doh and wrote what they are thankful for on slips of paper that went into the bowl. Both remote and in-person students made their bowls and had their family members add to the gratitude list. Ms. Corcoran suggested they all read the slips of paper on Thanksgiving Day and guess who wrote thA boy wearing a red shirtand wearing a dark mask holds out his light blue little bowl.em.
