Our teachers are super heroes!

Monday kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week and boy is this week one to celebrate!

For more than a year now, our teachers have devised innovative ways to teach our students who are sitting in front of them in the classroom as well as those who are learning remotely through a computer screen.

A man in a black shirt and gold time wearing a black facemask stands with a woman with a wicker basket, blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise. She is wearing a mask too. They are in a classroom.

They have been cheerleaders for students, parents and their colleagues. They have been encouraging when they themselves had to dig deep to stay positive. They have sacrificed and inspired.

A woman in a blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise stands between a man on the right in a black shirt and tan shorts and a woman on the left also wearing a black shirt and tan shorts. All are wearing facemasks.

The district’s Executive Director of Human Resources, Data and School Counseling Angela Wise-Landman visited every teacher in the district last Wednesday and Thursday, to thank them for all they do for our students and our district. At each of the schools, she was accompanied by the building principal, assistant principal or both! On behalf of the administration, she gave each a token of appreciation – a key chain declaring “Teaching is my super power.” She even wore a gold cape to bring the point home! She spoke to the students, letting them know how special their teachers are. On many occasions, the students applauded in agreement!

Two women stand in front of a classroom, with a white board in the background and the word THINK in large letters above it. Woman on the right holds a wicker basket and a blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise. The woman on the left has long blonde hair and is wearing gray pants and sweater. Both are wearing masks.

We all know how difficult things have been in so many aspects of our lives over the past 13 months. But our teachers have been there every step of the way: understanding, encouraging, inspiring, caring.

Three women stand in front of a classroom, whiteboards in back. The woman on the right has long hair and is holding a wicker baskete. She is wearing a blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise. Next to her are two women, both with long hair. One is wearing a striped dress the other a blue shirt and black pants. They are all wearing face masks.

Our hats are off to our teachers. Know that we appreciate all that you do. You are making a huge impact. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you.
