Our teachers are super heroes!

Monday kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week and boy is this week one to celebrate!

A woman sits at a desk with a computer in front of her. She is wearing a white sweater and a blue facemask. She has shoulder-length blonde hair. A woman in a blue shirt and long ponytail hands her a key chain as a gift.

For more than a year now, our teachers have devised innovative ways to teach our students who are sitting in front of them in the classroom as well as those who are learning remotely through a computer screen.

Two women stand in front of a classroom. Thewoman on the right is holding a wicker basket in one hand and a key chain in the other. She has a long ponytail. The woman on the left is wearing a black dress and white sweater. She has long blonde hair and is wearing a face mask. She has her hand out to accept the key chain gift. Students are watching and smiling and clapping.

They have been cheerleaders for students, parents and their colleagues. They have been encouraging when they themselves had to dig deep to stay positive. They have sacrificed and inspired.

A woman wearing a black shirt and black plaid face mask holds up her key chain that says Teaching is my super power.

The district’s Executive Director of Human Resources, Data and School Counseling, Angela Wise-Landman, visited every teacher in the district last Wednesday and Thursday, to thank them for all they do for our students and our district. At each of the schools, she was accompanied by the building principal, assistant principal or both! On behalf of the administration, she gave each a token of appreciation – a key chain declaring “Teaching is my super power.” She even wore a gold cape to bring the point home! She spoke to the students, letting them know how special their teachers are. On many occasions, the students applauded in agreement!

A woman in a blue t-shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise, wearing a gold cape and a face mask, stands with a man in a green shirt, wearing a facemask and holding a key chain she just gave him as a gift. There is an American flag behind them.

We all know how difficult things have been in so many aspects of our lives over the past 13 months. But our teachers have been there every step of the way: understanding, encouraging, inspiring, caring.

Two women are in front of a classroom. The woman on the right is holding a large wicker basket and handing the woman on the left a key chain gift. The woman on the left has a dark face mask on and a denim jacket.

Our hats are off to our teachers. Know that we appreciate all that you do. You are making a huge impact. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you.
