Our teachers are super heroes!

Monday kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week and boy is this week one to celebrate!

A woman with short hair wearing a blue mask, purple shirt and white button down shirt holds a key chain that says Teaching is my super power. Next to her is a woman with glasses, ponytail, mask and a blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise.

For more than a year now, our teachers have devised innovative ways to teach our students who are sitting in front of them in the classroom as well as those who are learning remotely through a computer screen.

A woman in a blue shirt hands a key chain to a man all dressed in black. Both are wearing masks. They have been cheerleaders for students, parents and their colleagues. They have been encouraging when they themselves had to dig deep to stay positive. They have sacrificed and inspired.

A woman is sitting at her desk, with a compute rscreen in front. She has long dark hair and is wearing a blue mask. She is holding a keychain that was just given to her by the woman standing next to her. She is wearing a blue t-shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise. On the desk is a sign that says wash your hands.

The district’s Executive Director of Human Resources, Data and School Counseling, Angela Wise-Landman, visited every teacher in the district last Wednesday and Thursday, to thank them for all they do for our students and our district. At each of the schools, she was accompanied by the building principal, assistant principal or both! On behalf of the administration, she gave each a token of appreciation – a key chain declaring “Teaching is my super power.” She even wore a gold cape to bring the point home! She spoke to the students, letting them know how special their teachers are. On many occasions, the students applauded in agreement! Two women in a classroom. The one on the left is wearing a blue t shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise. The woman on the right has her hair pulled back, wearing a blue flowered dress and sweater, holding up the keychain she just received. It says Teaching is my super power. Both are wearing face masks.

We all know how difficult things have been in so many aspects of our lives over the past 13 months. But our teachers have been there every step of the way: understanding, encouraging, inspiring, caring.

A woman with a blue shirt, ponytail, glasses and facemask hands a keychain gift to a teacher in front of a classroom. The teacher has a beige jacket on, hair up and a blue and white mask on. There is a screen behind them. Our hats are off to our teachers. Know that we appreciate all that you do. You are making a huge impact. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you.
