Our teachers are super heroes!

Monday kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week and boy is this week one to celebrate!

A woman wearing a blue shirt that says Teachers are just super heroes in disguise and a gold cape, black mask and glasses hands a key chain to a woman on the right wearing a light green jacket and printed mask. She has medium length hair. They are standing in a classroom.

For more than a year now, our teachers have devised innovative ways to teach our students who are sitting in front of them in the classroom as well as those who are learning remotely through a computer screen.

A woman with long hair wearing a gold cape and blue shirt hands a key chain to two women in a classroom. One woman has long blonde hair and is wearing a yellow shirt and black kpants. The woman in the center is wearing a black and white striped shirt and black pants. All are wearing masks.

They have been cheerleaders for students, parents and their colleagues. They have been encouraging when they themselves had to dig deep to stay positive. They have sacrificed and inspired.

The district’s Executive Director of Human Resources, Data and School Counseling, Angela Wise-Landman, visited every teacher in the district last Wednesday and Thursday, to thank them for all they do for our students and our district. At each of the schools, she was accompanied by the building principal, assistant principal or both! On behalf of the administration, she gave each a token of appreciation – a key chain declaring “Teaching is my super power.” She even wore a gold cape to bring the point home! She spoke to the students, letting them know how special their teachers are. On many occasions, the students applauded in agreement!

We all know how difficult things have been in so many aspects of our lives over the past 13 months. But our teachers have been there every step of the way: understanding, encouraging, inspiring, caring.

Our hats are off to our teachers. Know that we appreciate all that you do. You are making a huge impact. From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you.
