PAK second graders research and present about African-American figures in our history

The students in Suzanne Parker’s second grade class at Pakanasink sharpened their research and presentation skills while creating a project to mark Black History Month.

Three girls wearing face masks, stand against a wall holding up a piece of paper. On the paper is a picture they drew and a story they wrote.

The students each chose an African American in our country’s history and then went to Pebble Go to do some research. They took copious notes and then turned those notes into a paragraph. They added a picture and voila – their project was complete.

They were very proud of their reports – and rightly so! They took turns reading their reports to the class so everyone could learn about these famous historical figures. The class then read them to first graders in Mrs. Newton’s class.

In a classroom a woman stands at the front of the class looking at a line of second-grade students. There five children along the side of the room and several more sitting at their desks. The children standing have papers in their hands.
