Accounting I *
This introductory accounting course provides a thorough background in the basic accounting procedures used to operate a business. The complete accounting cycles of a sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation are explored. This course may be applied toward the New York state math credit requirement for graduation.

College Financial Accounting (SUNY Orange)*
This college-level course covers basic accounting concepts and the methodology of financial accounting. Rules and procedures used by financial accountants for preparing external financial reports are studied. It is recommended that students complete Accounting I to participate. This course may be applied toward the New York state math credit requirement for graduation. Students must pay a college fee.

College Business Mathematics (SUNY Sullivan) *
This course serves as a foundation for subsequent business courses and workplace preparation. Students learn math skills that are useful in the daily operation of a business and personal finance. This course may be applied toward the New York state math credit requirement for graduation. Participants pay a college fee.

Business Applications and Technology
This course is a career and college preparatory class that builds vital business skills. Students will master basic Microsoft Office and Google Applications through project-based learning. Students will create resumes, cover letters, and presentations while honing employability skills such as interviewing and public speaking.

College Microeconomics (SUNY Sullivan)
This course is devoted to the study of microeconomics. Emphasis is placed on the economic problems of allocation, distribution, and efficiency. This course may be used to meet the New York State economics credit requirement for graduation.

College Macroeconomics (SUNY Sullivan)
Students study macroeconomics with the main emphasis on solving the problems of economic growth and stability that impact everyone. The course includes the study of such topics as monetary policy, fiscal policy, employment, inflation, international trade, and current economic problems.

Financial and Career Planning*
This course introduces students to a multitude of essential personal finance and career exploration topics necessary to become a financially capable individual. Topics include budgeting, taxes, insurance, investing, and career exploration. Participants explore how to navigate personal financial decisions within the greater economic system. Financial & Career Planning teaches high schoolers what most adults wish they learned at a young age. This course pairs well with Credit & Investing.
This course satisfies the Economics graduation requirement.

Credit & Investing
This course focuses on some of the most important issues in personal financial health. Students explore interest rates, loans, bank accounts, and investing. This course takes a deep dive into credit. Students learn what a credit score is, how to build credit, and how to maintain and protect their credit throughout their lives. Finance & Investing includes a realistic stock project in which students interact with a realtime brokerage account and invest throughout the semester. This course pairs well with Financial and Career Planning.
This course satisfies the Economics graduation requirement.

Entrepreneurship
This course invites students to explore the critical role small businesses play in the community. It will explore the various forms of business ownership, and challenge students to creatively and effectively solve problems in their own communities. Students will learn the skills, characteristics, and aptitudes that are found in successful business owners. The course will culminate with a simulated “Shark Tank” presentation of business plans developed during the class.

Principles of Marketing (SUNY Sullivan)
Marketing is a growing, exciting business discipline that is foundational to modern education. In this project-centric course, students will learn how to create and implement a marketing strategy. Topics explored include market segmentation, consumer behavior, advertising and promotion, and distribution channels. Students will gain valuable employability skills including learning and practicing professional presentations.

Retail Management
This full year course is as hands-on as it gets. Students will enhance and employ their business knowledge from prior courses while acquiring new, tangible skills. Students in this course will operate the Pine Bush School Store in conjunction with the Finance Academy. Students will employ marketing, design, operations, accounting, and communication skills as they plan, design, research, and market apparel jobs. This hands-on course offers a unique experience for students to learn how to manage a small business. This course is open to students that have taken one of the following courses: Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Accounting (any level), College Economics or College Business Math or a student that is an active member of the Finance Academy.
